Ashleigh Barnett, Chef

I am a dancer turned Pilates instructor turned pastry chef!  Food has always been a passion of mine so when I moved to NYC to teach Pilates, the bulk of my cash was spent trying new cuisines and restaurants. Eventually, I attended culinary school at the Institute of Culinary Education hoping to turn my love of food into a career. During the pastry arts section, my obsession with detail was an asset and I really excelled. I had found my calling. This led to my attendance in the pastry arts program where the emphasis was French style pastry.

Thank goodness for Chef Emily Issac of Trois Pommes Patisserie in Brooklyn.  Chef Emily taught me that work can be fun and that people enjoy rustic style desserts as much if not more than the fancy French style.

My approach to food is celebratory.  I want to celebrate anything and everything and love making the special baked goods that add to the celebration.  Holidays, anniversaries, birthdays, dinner parties or a first date all are more memorable with the right baked goods. My specialty is old fashioned classic comfort goodies that Grandma would make.  At the end of the day, I want to bring people together with food that tastes great and makes people happy.
